How do I search for a song?

Tap the search icon in the top bar, or open Search songs on the Song Bank tab of Community — the same field either way. Type a title, author or tune; matches narrow as you type.

No match says so plainly, rather than an empty screen with no explanation. Once a search turns up songs of more than one kind, chips underneath let you narrow it further.

How do I practise a song?

Open a song, choose the key you plan to sing it in, and tap Practice. SingKey asks for the phrase that actually gives you trouble, listens while you sing it, and tells you in words — never a percentage — how it went.

Practising is tied to the key you did it in. Change the key later and that song goes back to needing practice, because a key you have not sung in is not one you are ready in.

How does SingKey measure my voice?

You sing for a short check. SingKey listens through your microphone and works out the pitch on your own phone. The recording never leaves it. The measurement — your range, not the sound — is saved to your account when you are signed in, so it follows you to another phone.

It keeps two different numbers apart on purpose: your comfortable range, which you can sing every week without strain, and your wider maximum range, the very top and bottom you can reach at all. Recommendations are built on the comfortable range, not the maximum one — the two are never collapsed into a single figure.

How do recommendations work?

SingKey — the engine behind this is called KeyFit — compares your comfortable range against a song and works out a weighted fit score for every possible key, never a percentage of confidence in anything. It shows the strongest matches and explains, in plain words, what it actually found.

Whatever SingKey suggests, you decide. If a key does not suit your ear or your band, pick a different one — SingKey remembers your choice and uses it everywhere that song appears next, rather than repeating its own suggestion at you.

Do I need to connect with someone before we can work together?

No. You can find anyone in Community’s People tab, see their posts, assign them to a set and team up with them without asking first.

Your church’s own tab — JIA DG Church Worship Team, or whatever your church’s Head calls it — is for its members: its people, its worship team and its sets in full. Anyone signed in can read a church’s published setlists. Every account from before October 2026 is a member of JIA DG; a new one taps Ask to join and that church’s Head lets them in.

A profile set to Private shows only a name, username and avatar to other members. Blocking still works from any profile’s More options.

How do I create a Worship Set?

Menu → Worship Sets → New Set. Give it a service date, then tap Add song to add songs from the catalogue or by name; each song’s own Manage button reorders it with Move up and Move down, or removes it.

For each song, mark the flow as Fast or Slow, and the arrangement as Full or Partial (and, if partial, which parts — for example, “Chorus + Bridge”). Key, tempo and time signature are all optional: SingKey never fills them in on your behalf. A YouTube link can be added as a reference for how the song goes.

A new set stays a draft, visible only to you, until you open Set options and tap Publish — after that, everyone you have assigned to it can see it. Set options is also where you edit the set’s details or remove it.

How do I assign team members to a Worship Set?

From the set, tap Assign. Choose a role — lead vocal, backing vocals, drums, bass, acoustic or electric guitar, keys, piano, tambourine/dance, media, logistics, mixer/audio, or other — and whether it is for the whole set or one particular song.

Then find people by name or @username and tick everyone who fills that role — you can assign several people at once. For a church’s worship set, only people on that church’s worship team can be assigned — the list shows the team’s roster. A set you plan on your own can use anyone with a SingKey account, and people who joined from your invite link are listed first, marked Team.

How do I add my musicians and singers to my worship team?

Open your Worship Set and tap Invite people in its Team section (or, in Menu → Worship Sets, tap Your worship team). Tap Share link (or Copy link) and send it to your team however you usually talk — a group chat is fine.

Each person opens the link, creates a SingKey account or signs in, and asks to join. On a church’s worship team, you or another team leader then approve them from the church tab; on a team no church is attached to, they join straight away. Make a new link at any time; the old one stops working, and people already on the team stay.

How do I start a church space?

Open the church tab, find Start a church space, type your church’s name and send it. A SingKey super admin approves it, and you are told when they do. You need to be in no church to ask — leave your current one first.

Once it is approved you are its Head: your church tab appears, your worship team is the team you already lead, and you invite people with the church link. Everyone already on that team waits for your yes.

How do I join my church’s worship team?

Open the team’s invite link from your leader and ask to join. You are on the team once your church’s Head or a team leader approves you — until then you see a waiting note, not the team’s sets.

You need to be a member of that church first, and you can belong to only one church. If the link is for a different church than yours, it will not add you.

Who can see our setlists?

Every signed-in SingKey member can read a church’s published setlists, read-only, with the songs, chords and words. Drafts, the rehearsal place and notes, and who plays what are only for that church’s worship team.

The share link of a set shows the same read-only view.

Why can’t I assign someone to a set?

On a church’s worship set, only people on that church’s worship team can be given a part. If someone is not in the list, they are not on the team yet, or they belong to a different church.

A Head or team leader adds them from the church tab (Team), or approves their request to join; then they appear when you assign. A person can belong to one church only.

How do I share my own song’s chords and lyrics with the team?

From a set, tap Add my own song, confirm your church’s licence covers sharing it, and add the song. Everyone assigned to the published set sees its chords and lyrics on the song’s page.

If you edit the song later, tap Refresh on it in the set to send the new version.

How do musicians see what they are playing?

Open Menu → Worship Sets. “Sets you lead” lists the sets you started; “Sets you play on” lists every set someone else has assigned you to and published — it appears there the moment the leader publishes it.

Opening a set shows My Assignments first — your role, and whether it covers the whole set or one song — then the whole setlist in order with your songs marked “Your part”, the rehearsal details and the leader’s notes, and the team grouped by role under the worship leader.

Can I use a Worship Set without signal?

Yes, for what the set already holds. Open My Worship Sets while you have signal and your upcoming sets are kept on this device; with no signal they open as an Offline copy with their songs, keys, chords, lyrics, notes and team.

A leader can still change a song’s key, tempo, time signature, flow, arrangement or notes, and the set’s notes and rehearsal details: those say Saved on this device and sync when signal returns. Anything that needs the server — assigning, adding or removing songs, publishing, invitations, messages — says it needs a connection.

How do I play a song’s YouTube reference?

On a Worship Set, each song has Play reference; on a song’s own page in Songs, tap Play on YouTube. Either loads YouTube’s own player inside SingKey — nothing loads from YouTube until you tap, and what plays is YouTube’s player, with its own controls and branding. On a Worship Set, Open in YouTube is always beside it, for when a video will not play inside SingKey.

A link that is not a YouTube video is shown as a plain web address instead. SingKey opens it in your browser and does not read anything from it.

What does SingKey know about me, and who sees it?

Your voice recordings stay on this device — they are never uploaded, on any account.

How do I block or report someone?

Open their profile, tap More options, then Block or Report. Blocking removes any follow and any team-up between you, in both directions, and they will not be able to find your profile again.

Report sends SingKey’s admins a note with a reason, and stays possible even for someone who has blocked you — being blocked never stops a report.

Where do I edit my profile?

Open Profile — the icon in the top bar, beside the bell. Avatar Studio, for how you look, sits above the edit form for your display name, username, and whether your profile is Community (any signed-in singer can see it) or Private (only your name, username and avatar are shown).

The same form holds an about line, a favourite Bible verse, an encouragement and your musical role — all optional.
